Newsletter Autumn 2017
Jonathan joins forces once again with Lukasz Borowicz on this unique recording of Polish Romantic Music for Piano and Orchestra, with the Polish Orchestra Sinfonia Iuventus, released on 1st September.  Following on from his highly successful recordings of Polish music for Hyperion Records, Jonathan had this to say about this new departure with Warner Classics:

Paderewski has always fascinated me, not just as a pianist and composer, but also as a humanitarian and great statesman.  I have loved his music ever since I was a child when I first heard him playing on a recording of piano virtuosi my parents had, and his ‘Nocturne’ was one of the very first pieces I performed in public.   His Concerto is superbly crafted and deserves to be a regular fixture on the international stage, whilst Stojowski’s music,  unjustly neglected these days, is also wonderfully Romantic, influenced as it was by his life long friend, Paderewski.  I have wanted to record these pieces for a very long time, and I am delighted to have had the opportunity to do so, particularly in Poland, and with such a wonderful conductor and orchestra.”

Having started this exciting survey with the composer's 3rd Sonata, Jonathan’s fifth and final volume of this highly successful series features the composer's Opus 1, Piano Sonata No. 1 in C major, the Fantasies Op.116, and the Schumann Variations Op.9.
Released 10th September in Sweden and Poland, November worldwide.

His Brahms cycle has received enormous critical acclaim, in Gramophone ( 3 x Editor’s Choice + 2016 Award Nomination), BBC Music Magazine (Instrumental Choice of the Month), 5* from International Piano, The Guardian, Pianist Magazine and ‘10/10’ on and many others.
